" San Clemente Palace is Venice's big new luxury grand hotel for elite tourism on San Clemente Island..."
Its origins go back to 1131, the year in which the church was built. Through the years this island has always retained its image as an oasis of peace, welcoming and cordial. Today's complex, enhanced by open-air courtyards, retains all the charm and atmosphere of the ancient monastery of the Camaldolesi order, built in the second half of the seventeenth century.
The restoration of the buildings, accomplished with the utmost respect for the island's historical and artistic treasures and natural beauties, has made it possible to preserve all its historical flavour and to achieve a truly luxurious hotel for international guests who expect the most in terms of privacy and discretion.
The professionalism of the staff, with their excellent linguistic skills and awareness of the customs and needs of diverse international cultures, will make every guest feel thoroughly “at home”. Carefully restored with complete respect for the island's historical and artistic treasures, the hotel complex retains all the charm and atmosphere of the 17th century Camaldoli Order monastery.
Restaurants/Dining: The Le Maschere restaurant features a more sober, informal environment, always in an atmosphere with a Venetian flair. The Gli Arazzi restaurant is the classic environment of the dining hall in the great palace. The La Laguna restaurant, located near the swimming pool and tennis courts, is a pleasant, informal place to taste appetising courses from the buffet service, sheltered from the hot summer sun. The Gli Specchi American bar has a magnificent, timeless atmosphere of opulence and elegance, for aperitifs and cocktails with a hint of magic. The Le Conchiglie bar, located by the swimming pool, open only in the summer time, it is the ideal spot for thirst-quenching drinks, cocktails, ice-cream, granitas and toothsome snacks.
Accommodations The hotel offers 200 guestrooms in a restored, three-story monastery dating from the 19th century. Its distinct exterior is terra-cotta-colored, with white trim and tall, arched windows. Long, wide, high-ceiled hallways extend through the hotel's wings, all decorated with damask wall panels and crystal and Murano glass chandeliers.
Guestrooms contain 4-meter (13.75-foot) ceilings, tall windows providing views of the hotel's gardens, terrazzo floors with area rugs, reading chairs, cocktail tables, and work desks. Furnishings and colors vary according to four Venetian-theme decor schemes: The Doges, The Merchants, The Nobles, and The Navigators.
Beds feature hypoallergenic comforters, six pillows each, and linen sheets. Beige-marble bathrooms include separate tubs and showers and feature a five-channel in-house music system. French toiletries are by Etro. Terry-cloth bathrobes and slippers supply lounging comfort. Internet access is available through televisions.
